Keep Calm and SuperSoak EVERYTHING!
Piggybacking on my blog entry "House Party....Just supply the atmosphere and House Party will supply the rest". I mentioned that I too am a member of the House Party website. I recently was selected to host a NERF and Frito Lay sponsored Super Soaker Summer Party! Here is my experience on the site as well as my children's reaction to hearing first, that we were selected to host, then what happened when we received the party packs...
I logged on one day to the site after I had taken a couple of weeks off, due to being down in the dumps about not getting selected for another majorly popular party. When I logged on I took a look around the site and scouted the list of upcoming party opportunities. I came across the Nerf and Frito Lay sponsored water party I thought to myself, "This is the perfect summertime party" So I put my bid in, then started a couple of down to earth, friendly and funny conversations about Nerf and why I wanted this party opportunity for not only my boys but my husband and myself as well.
So I stayed active on the site as well as on Facebook and Twitter by way of shouting out House Party and Nerf and stating that I was in the running to become a party host.
(One of the things I am learning about House Party is that for a little bit of your time (Twitter, Facebook, and Blogging) about the opportunities, which gives you the chance to host some amazing parties for free, in return you are helping to give promotion and advertising to the particular companies by reaching your followed audiences who may or may not know about the different brands and product services until you blog about them. Sounds like a fair exchange to me!)
I continued to check my email for increase chances to be selected as a Nerf Party host.
I submitted images of my boys and other parties that we have hosted in the past to the site as well.. This to me is important because in your conversation if you state "Oh me and my 5 dogs just love, Jane Doe brand ice cream" why not upload a image of you and your 5 dogs enjoying Jane Doe brand ice cream?
After I had done the "Major" work I kept active on the site in my spare time and kept my bid in the top running by shouting out House Party @HOUSEPARTYFUN, Nerf @NERFNATION, and Cheetos @Fritolayus on Twitter...
The wait time to see if I was selected was about 2 weeks! You can imagine the anxious lurking around my house! 3 boys 5,8 and 13 questioning my every log on. "Mom, mom, mom, mom! Are we getting Nerfs yet?", "Mom, Moommm!! What did they say yet?" I was on the verge of hiding in the linen closet until the selection day came around. So finally we get a email stating that we had been selected to host!!! HOWEVER....we had a couple of hours from the time the email was sent to secure our spot by eviting through the House Party site at LEAST 10 people! YIKES!!! But of course in this technology driven society we all live in, who doesn't have email??? So within 10 minutes of opening the House Party email, I had secured my spot by inviting 15 people! YAY for Mom!
We received our party packs on May 23 and the boys could not be happier, however, they must yet wait again....
Due to the acknowledged electronic agreement, we cannot party hard until the assigned party date of June 15!
