Target Haul!!
Since I've started planning, I've seen countless videos, blogs and forums where the coveted "Target Flags" were often discussed, swapped and sold. They were often referred to as "Unicorn". The term meaning that they were either very hard to come by, or people were willing to purchase them at a extremely high markup just to say they own them.
In all honesty. I have not been planning in such a collective group fashion for long, therefore, I've paid many visits to the Dollar Spot at Target and......(here goes...) walked right past all of the planner goodies including baskets overflowing with yup, you guessed it page flags and didn't pay a second thought as to if I needed them (Insert face palm, gasping or even clutching of the pearls). I won't say it was because I felt I didn't need them, or they were unnecessary. I was unaware of their ability to not only make me plan more effectively, but to make my planner look more stylish and color coordinated.
Don't worry, I finally get it! Oh boy, do I get it.
I too have become borderline obsessed with the Target Dollar Spot. I am of those people who make weekly and on occasion daily trips to Target, "To pickup a loaf of bread" or "The barista at Target makes my Frappacinos just the way I like them", are two of my most used excuses to justify to my Husband my frequent trips. Normally, my trips leave me walking away empty-handed. It takes skill and timing to make it out of some Targets with bags in tow from the Dollar Spot. However, when I am able to catch the bins or at least a bin with planner goodies, I tend to collect just enough to hold me over until the next designs are released.
Durning my last trip to Target, I was able to track down the associates who stock and organize the Dollar Spot section, and asked if there was a scheduled delivery or timeframe of when the new items are introduced. Unfortunately, I was told there is not a specific timeframe and that once the items are brought in, they are placed in the bins within a MONTH of receiving the shipment. It's a game of hit or miss or luck of the draw to find a Target that has the exact Dollar Spot items you are looking for. When you locate THAT Target, it can become a game of locating the needle in the haystack to luck up on a pack of the coveted "Unicorn" page flags.
I recently embarked on a Target safari and traveled to SIX Targets, with no luck! None, zilch, nada...almost ready to throw in the towel, I stumbled upon a ray of light in the form of both a stock and floor associate who understood my pain (No exactly pain, but exaggerated to prove a point). Who went the extra mile and searched the stockroom to locate the boxes which contained the new stationery items for the Dollar Spot. Jackpot!
With all of that being said.....
I present my Target Haul!
